Lunch and Learn for APEGGA
On June 27, Gail was invited to speak to staff at APEGGA in Edmonton, with audio connection to staff in Calgary. The topic was "Eating Well and Eating Local" and was offered as part of APEGGA's program of commitment to staff wellness.

Conference of the Canadian Colleges and Universities Food Services Association: On July 1, Gaill will be speaking about Canada Day on the Prairies – our local experience and she is a judge at the chef's competition that evening. For more details on this conference go to www.ccufsa.on.ca. Other speakers to catch are Jennifer Cockrall-King, Joe Salatin and Bal Arneson.

5th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destination June 27 to 29, 2011: Gail will be presenting a hands-on cooking class and leading a walking culianry tour of Edmonton. For details on this conference to to http://www.rtd5.icrtcanada.ca.

Gold Medal Plates: On October 27, 2010, Gail was one of the judges for this year's Gold Medal Plates in Edmonton. Gold Metal Plates for 2011 is on November 3 and is sure to be a sold out event. Mark the date and check the website for Gold Medal Plates to purchase tickets to this fundraiser.

Cooking Classes for Edmonton Public Schools, Metro Continuing Education:
Since 1990, Gail has been a cooking instructor for the continuing education program of Edmonton Public Schools.  Gail always develops new recipes for her classes.
Here is the fall schedule:
Hearty Autumn Stews on October 20, 2011 (demonstration class)
Appetizer Bake and Take on November 26, 2011 (hands-on class with the class creating enough hors d'oeuvres for you to take home for holiday entertaining!). Classes are at J Percy Page at 2707 Mill Woods Road Nw. For more information and to register, go on line to www.metrocontinuingeducation.ca

Completed Courses and Presentations of Interest

Lunch and Learn for Alberta Blue Cross: two cooking workshops featured easy to make recipes using local and regional ingredients -- over 150 staff attended!

Lunch and Learn with Alberta Justice: Gail presented a cooking demo on some healthy Christmas appetizers ideas for this group.

Lunch and Learn: Gail presented a workshop over the lunch hour for Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry. This was a 'food for thought' session, both literally and figuratively, with food and lifestyle insights, cooking demo and tasting.

Alberta's Best Culinary Festival, September 28 to 30, 2007, Banff, AB: This is a brand new culinary festival. On September 29, Gail will present a cooking demo on 30 minute healthy meals and a session on eating local foods. Click here for festival details.

Host of the Foodways Stage at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival June 30 to July 1, 2006: Gail was off to Washington DC this summer hosting the Smithsonian Folklife Festival’s Foodways Stage as part of ‘Alberta at the Smithsonian’. CBC Food Fight Series: on June 11, Gail participated on a panel of experts to discuss the pros and cons of local vs. global, located at the CBC station.
